Pre-Screening and Overview
After you complete the intake questionnaire, Dylan will give you a call to gather essential details, screen for safety, and ensure mediation is a suitable option for your situation. This step helps identify any concerns that may impact the mediation process and provides clarity on what documents you’ll need to prepare.
Intake
Before moving forward with mediation, we take the time to understand your unique circumstances, key concerns, and goals. This step ensures that both parties have a clear understanding of what mediation involves and establishes the scope of work. At this stage, we also provide guidance on the information and documentation needed for productive discussions.
Joint Planning Meeting
This initial face-to-face (or virtual) session is attended by both parties and typically lasts about two hours. It serves as a structured conversation to outline priorities, clarify expectations, and set the framework for the mediation process. The goal is to create a productive, solution-focused environment where both parties can work toward resolution.
Mediation
Dylan facilitates structured discussions to help resolve outstanding issues related to separation, parenting, finances, and asset division. The goal is to reach practical, fair, and sustainable agreements that work for both parties. Once agreements are reached, you’ll receive a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which summarizes the key terms of your mediation.
Separation Agreement
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is then converted into a formal Separation Agreement. This legally binding document outlines all agreed-upon terms and protects both parties moving forward. At this stage, Independent Legal Advice (ILA) is strongly recommended to ensure both parties fully understand and are comfortable with the agreement before signing.
Drafting and Review
The final stage involves reviewing, finalizing, and signing the Separation Agreement. With the assistance of legal counsel, both parties can ensure that all terms are legally sound and enforceable. Once signed, the Separation Agreement becomes the foundation for moving forward independently and confidently.
